Town Hall Meeting for Barn Quilts of Carver County 0

Town Hall Meeting

Have you seen our County’s latest arts attraction? Designed for barns, not beds, “barn quilts” are 8 foot-square painted wooden quilt panels, hung on the exterior walls of barns. Come and meet the founders of this grand community arts endeavor, and join in a discussion as they share their continued artistic vision for the project.

Learn where the barn quilt movement began and how local support for the arts helped launch this larger than life, open-air-gallery of Folk art.  Hear from current barn quilt owners, quilters, art enthusiasts, and community organizations as we discuss barn selection, painting techniques, installation, and the variety of volunteer opportunities available. Barn owners, future barn quilt enthusiasts, history buffs and art supporters will enjoy this informational and friendly atmosphere. Learn how to request a “quilt” for your barn and join the fun!

Date: Saturday, May 12, 10:30 – noon

MN Valley Electric is Major Sponsor 0

Hello Barn Quilt Fans,

We are thrilled to announce Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative has just signed on as a major sponsor to our barn quilt project. MVEC has agreed to install all 12 of our fall 2011 quilt blocks. They truly take community service to another level considering none of the installations are currently located in their service area. Thank you MVEC. Talk about a boost of energy!!!
What this means is that we will meet our project goals of having all our barn quilts installed in time for the 100th Anniversary of the Carver County Fair.
A donation of this kind also makes it possible for us to add an additional 15 quilts to our Carver County Quilt trail next spring. Now that’s not only a commitment to community, but a commitment to the art as well.
Thank you MVEC!!!
We hope you’ll join us in thanking them for their support and shared enthusiasm for our project.
You can contact them at the following address:
Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative
Attn: Susan Larson
125 Minnesota Valley Electric Drive
Jordan, MN 55352
Without your support we would not be able to bring this exciting art initiative to our community.  Look for the barn quilts appearing throughout the county beginning August 2nd!
